What is Coaching?

Coaching helps you to produce extraordinary results in your career, business, organization, or personal life.  Through the process of coaching you will deepen your learning, improve your performance, and enhance the quality of your life.  A coach works with you to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what you want to achieve

  • Encourage your own self-discovery

  • Generate your own solutions and strategies

  • Hold yourself responsible and accountable

In each meeting, you choose the focus of conversation, while I listen carefully and contribute observations and questions.  This interaction creates clarity and helps move you into action.  Coaching accelerates your progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice.  Coaching concentrates on where you are right now and what you are willing to do to get where you want to be in the future.

As your coach, I will challenge you and take the time to find out what success in life means to you.  In this sense, I am your partner in living the life you know you can accomplish, personally and professionally.  Generally, it’s true we can’t reach our fullest potential alone.  Anything that is done alone usually isn’t really big or expansive enough.  I will work with you to establish a vision for your life, to create a strategy for reaching that vision and to set specific, challenging, and measurable goals that will inspire you to excellence and success.

People in all walks of life hire coaches, e.g., individuals, executives, parents, managers, organizations, entrepreneurs, performers, to name a few.  If you or your organization is ready for a new level of growth and discovery, you’re probably ready to work with a coach.

By hiring a coach you will:

  • Set far better goals that motivate you in a healthy way

  • Accomplish goals and tasks and projects much more quickly

  • Make fewer mistakes in your business life or in your personal life

  • Move to the next level of your professional and personal life

  • Reduce the number of problems you have and better resolve those you do have

  • Make more money in your career, profession or business

  • Be a lot happier and this happiness will last

  • Be much more effective and attractive to others

As your coach I will help you to:

  • Simplify your life

  • Think differently and bigger

  • Acquire far more than is needed

  • Become highly effective

  • Become that good at something

  • Understand yourself and life so much better

To learn more about coaching go to the International Coach Federation (ICF) website for answers to Frequently Asked Questions and for a description of the eleven Core Coaching Competencies which describe the skills and approaches used within today's coaching profession as defined by the ICF.

Although many coaches are generalists, I specialize in the areas of career management, small business success and retirement planning.  In terms of length of working with me as your coach, it sometimes is as brief as accomplishing a specific goal or project, such as preparing for an upcoming interview, but more often an ongoing relationship of 3 to 6 months.  You’ll be amazed at how much progress you’ll make in that timeframe.

Coaching is not therapy.  As a coach, I do not work on “issues, “ get into the past nor deal much with understanding human behavior.  Coaching is about envisioning a better future and working toward those new possibilities.

To learn more about me and my coaching style, I offer a complimentary coaching session over the phone to help you to determine if coaching is the next step for you at this time.  During a typical 30-60 minute session we’ll talk about one or two key issues of concern to you.  Please Contact Jim by phone or email to get started.  We’ll set up a mutually convenient time to meet.
